woman for mayor and three women
for vacant places on the city coun
cil and the pioneer says they Will
probably be elected. The Madras
Pioneer recently closed a newsnaner
subscription salesmanship campaign
similar to the one now being con.
ducted by the Heppner Herald with
such success f.iat it is said every
family in Jefferson countz are now
readers of the Pioneer and the en
lightenment thus brought about, so
it is claimed by the womea of that
own, accouats for the entry of tne
women into politics and their hearty
endorsement by the men folks. It's
hard to tell what may happen in Hen-
pner before the election is over.
