The citizens have decided to cele

In the afternoon an opportunity will
be given to witness a grand athletic
tournament open to all comers. Prizes
will be given to the winner In each
contest. The contests will consist of
races etc. The following prizes are
already arranged and open for compe

Bicycle race, one prize 6.00

The ladies of the First Presbyterian
church expeot to have a publio dining
hall on the 4th. of July, where those
not otherwise provided for, can be

Mr. J. B. Slater died at his residence
in this city Inst Sunday and was
buried flie following day in the
Masonic oemotery. He was 75 years
old and leaves a wife and eight chil
dren to mourn his departure.
Last Monday afternoon Miss Olle
Armstrong, ' sister of Mrs. F. M.
Miller, with whom she is making
her home, silppfid and fell
while on the walk in the
back yard and broke her left leg just,
above the ankle. Dr. Booth assisted
by Dr. Barker reduced the fracture
and at this writing she Is doing
nicely.
Mr. J. R. Stockman of Albany was
in the olty today looking about the
warehouse that he has recently pur
chased for the Red Crown flouring
mills. They will take charge of the
warehouse July Jst and have secured
Mr. J. M. Settle to run it for them this
