While it is true they can work on their little farms so long as .the shcrill allows them to remain in possession, yet if their pitiful con dition is not actual destitution, it approximates it very nearly. Out little city ot Lebanon is beautifully situated, surrounded by ' t fertile n country as God's tun 'ht iu,u nil. Its 1500 inhabi- tants are as happy and prosperous under ordinary conditions as any people in Oregon, but the bulk of its trade and prosperity depend very largely on the prosperity ot ' the farming community.
