No saloon men took any part In nominating any candidate. Tbe Issue was, saloons under control of the coun cil elected by the people, or saloons un der tbe control of the people, with the result that It was left in the hands of the council. A young mau by the uame of Mun- roe was drowned Sunday evening in the South Uuipquu river, 30 miles east of Cunyouville, at the mouth of Elk oreek, while trying to ford tbe creek. It seems that his horse became frac tious while in the stream and in rear ing up, the horse's head struck Muu roe's head, knocking hltu into the river.
