powders, actual strength, i6o.6"ttbic inches of
leavening gas per ounce of powder.
. Every other powder tested exhibited a much;
lower strength than the Royal, the average
being 33 per cent. less. 1 -,
Every other powder likewise showed the
presence of alum or sulphuric acid.
The claim that this report shows any other powder of su
perior strength or purity has been denounced as a falsehood
by the Government officers who made the tests.
