The school teachers of Morrow coun
ty hav;e struck for higher remunera
tion. At the institute recently held
there they organized a teachers' associ
ation and passed a resolution limiting
the minimum salary to be accepted by
any member of the association to $50
per month.
Saturday morning Rev. Haulelter
preached the funeral sermon of Mm.
Clint Mille.-, of this city. Mrs. Miller
died Friday morning after a prolonged
illness, The funeral wasdelayed wait
ing for relatives mid friends to arrive.

At the regular meetiug of LebMion
Lodge, No. 44, A. F. & A. M., held
Dec. 12th, 1801, the following officers

Lewis Martin, a boy of 15, while
playing at school lust Friday, fell and
dislocated and broke his left arm. Drs.
Foley and Booth were called, and at
tended to the fracture. The boy was
given an anaesthetic, the dislocation
was reduced aud the fracture set, and
the boy now carries a splint to school
with him.

Electric Lights.
At a meeting of the city council
Tuesday niht, an ordinance was in
troduced and referred to the committee
on ordinances, grunting to J. L.
Cowan, L. Foley and Frank O'Ncil a
franchise for tll'teeu years for the es
tablishaient of an electric plant in our
midst. From hearing the ordinance
read, v.e believe that it means fair play
to the city and to the company. It
Imposes certain conditions upou the
three gentlemen that will insure to us
good lights ut tlie least Inconvenience
and at reasonable prices. (
It is a step ill tlie right direction. It
means "progress!" It will be the ma
jority birthday of Lebanon, when she
ceases to.be u child and will enter upon
her woman's estate.
By. oil means let the franchise be
grouted, with proper restrictions, and
let the throe gentlemen, who show so
much public spirit, be encouraged.
We are going ahead and we need this
Improvement. The paper mill will
soon be In fuli operation. The canal
will ere long bring to our very doors
the power for other and greater im
provements: Flouring mills, a long
felt want, will come In time. So will
other manufacturing enterprises. Let
tho good work go on.

Council Proceedings-
The council met last Tuesday eve
ning in regular meeting. Tlie mayor
and all of Hie couueiimen were present.
.Viniitcs of previous meeting were
read aud approved.
Dr. L. Foley made his final report,
which was accepted, and then pre
sented his resignation, which was
accepted.
The report of the canvassers of the
city election was read and accepted
and the Recorder was ordered to Issue
certificates to the new elected officers.
Ordinance No. 21, relating to the
health was read the second time and
referred to the committee on ordi
nances, Ordinance No. 22, relating to an
electric light franchise, was lead the
second time and referred to tho com
mittee on ordinances.
The Recorder was ordered to draw
twelve dollars to pay the expenses of
the election.
By motion the money which was
taken out of the general funds aud ap
plied on the streets, was refunded,
