free. It is quite a credit to iur little

Coll Van Cleve, of the Toledo Coal
Mining Co., was iu the city yesterday.
He says the company has reached a
large body of good ciyl, which he is

thousands of tons of a fine grade of
coal in sight. Some prominent Albany
business meu are in the company and
they are putting in machinery to work
the mines. They will begin to take
out coal next week, and if this coal dis
covery is as good as claimed for It will
prove one of the valuable Industries of
Oregon. A good paying coal mine is
what has long been sought iu this state,
and if It bus been discovered at Toledo,
as It seams has Seen done, it will prove
