To the Editor: Dear Sir: I read with great in terest your article on trading or buying at home ih thto week's issue of your valuable paper. and must *ay it hits the nail on the head If every one in this communitv would do that it would be the most pros perity of any community in ths whole state. Now. Mr. Editor. I beltova I can give good reasons for my lack of patronising Scio's business men. and it to quite probable many others have the same reason, though I do not know. I live reasonably close to Scio. I have alwavs bevn a cash cus- > turner, and patron I xed Scio mer chants. About two years ago I be gan taking an Albany paper, anil I began to read the advertisements, and knowing the prices I was pay ing in Scio. I discovered I could go I to Albany and make my purchases: nnd save a* high a» 40 per cent on* some article*, such as lumcake flour j and syrup, while on rufTee of a lead ing brand I could save 10c and 15c per pound. On ail other goods 1 save about the same per cent, espe cially dry goods and wearing tya- lerials I know t>efore 1 ever start to town what I want snd what I have to pay for each article. That saved me time while in Albany ami also saved the clerk lime, while I would come to Scio and have to ask the price of every article 1 wished to buy. I have been trading in Al bany for about two years, and I am ahead several dollara I also buy ail my gasoline in Albany, because I can save from Ijc to 2c a gallon. I read the advertisements in your l>aper every «seek, and so far 1 have seen no prices on articles of food, and as the price to the dominant factor in my making purchases, it seem* to me that Scio’s business msn should invite patronage through at tractive price quotations each week, just a* Albany.
