Governor Coolidge of Massachu setts was selected for vice president on the first ballot. If the platform was not displeas ing to the laitor element and to the prohibitionists, the ticket would not have so hard a fight to win at the polls next fall. Samuel Gnmper» says lahor will control four millions of vote« next fall, a vast majority of which will be cast against the Chicago ticket, ami a block of votes of thia size is likely to control the election. While the ticket nominated may be considered a fairly strong one. the keynote «|>eech and the platform are a heavy load to carry when both should have been a help to win auc- eesn.
