The editorials are generally of a more digni fied and serious in- tun* than American productions. The daily papers devote more space to book reviews and de tailed reports of scientific ) re gress ti an American newspapers do. Humor is not so noticeable and cartisms are used more rare ly than with us. Very few, if any, of the uoloi. ial ¡>apers issue a "ping sheet,” but they supply this omission by devoting a large proportion ot every issue to the sporting news. With few exceptions the ad vertising pages would give our ”ad” writers the nightmare. They seem to have little concep tion of the value of space or of attractive methods of presenting either the text or the illustration. A pleasing relief to this monot ony is afforded by the "ads’* ol American advertisers which are rather numerous on their ¡»ages. .SI nool.
