A TRAGEDY List Saturday Mrs Frark Gr«er shot her husband and he die 1 Sunday morning. She hail separated from him and had en tered ¿nit for divorce. Saturday morning Mr Grier employed Mr Wilson to hdp him haul hay from ’he place where he ami his wife formerly lived. They load ed the buy but Mr# Grier objtct- ed 11 them taking it away. In the meantime ahe got a rife from the house und fired the fatal shot. Mr Wilson started the team on a run but lost the hay due to running over muyh ground. It is said that the con- stab'e on the Linn county side w ent down to get her but si e made him get away. H iwevi r he was unarmed. It is also told that she fired twice at Mr Wilson. Saturday after the shooting a Mr Solomon who has been living with her came to Mill City but no one disturbed him because h« was armed. Sunday, Shenfl Bodine came up. took Solomon a prisoner, got him in the auto mobile along with other officers, and went down past Potters mill to the Grier home but she was not there. The sheriff compelled Solomon to hunt for her. They went down the river to the Bradshaw place near Gooch. Solomon disappeared in the brush and came back ’accompan ied by the woman. ' They were taken at to Albany, Mr» Grier was born and reared I at Gates. Mr Grier has lived at Gates and Stayton. He was buried at Stayton. NICK.
