and Mr Sin-er of the Miller-Spc-r
Company, were both present.
About fifty members of the
Club were in attendance and
much interest was manifested.
It is practically a -u-'d that the
sawmill can be secured if our
citizens d<> their part.
Briefly stated the propoation

somewhere this fall ami prefer

A railroad rumor of much in­
terest is one t<» the effect that
the Hill people have secured the
Corvallis A Eastern and will take
charge March 1. The story, as
told, is that Harriman gave the
road to one of his daughters who
offered it to the Southern Pacific,
but the company preferred to
have a lease of it; that the Hill
people slipped in and bought the
property, and that it will change
hands as stated. Whether a fact
or not, the story is readable. —
