I deem a little explanation should be made, why there was no tax voted al Saturday's meeting First, the taxpayer, . f Q m feel they have not been given a a«|uar>- de»l rithrr by the Honorable < ojnt Court, or by our own supervisor. Upon Several occasions the tsvj »ve:, of the district sent in ■ long |eti’ *,i. signed by more than thrre-L«urths f the taxpayers, asking the county court to appoint a man of our own .clectior a» road supervisor, whom thr court turned down Thu we think unju.t and unfair on the part of the court. If wr levy a tax aiid pay our money ft r roads, we think we have a right to •IT who shall manage II. and where It shall l*e pul. W e think our county of ficiate are |«nt there a. servants for th« people, and not a. their tK»»rs or m»> ter*. In thr management of our roa.1 d>. tret by our pceaenl nuperviaor, the majority of 'hr tax;>ayers think hr has been unfair and unjust in hu dtstribu- tion of the road work and mad futría, I elonging to thr district, by »pending all of the county levy of tax for th« past three yrara on the roads in hu own immediate neighlmrhmd. to th« total neglect of al! other jmrtiona of the district. It is true sonic go«*! parts of road, have teen built by pro pie living near them, by donation and »u bar rip lion, apd the court hai been generous enough to put up dollar for dollar when such work has te«*n do nated. But with our supervisor's gen eral management of the road, in our district, thr taxpayers of the same ar. displeased, and it will be I’np.risible to vote a special tax undrr ms present I System of management.
