Si’IO. < >RE<;<»X, M AY h .IH on , U lis I scio 1'1 Ms. The representative ticket offered by Democratic |«arty, this year, is certain ly one worthy of the confidence and support of th«- |M«oplc. All three can dnlates arc taken from the rank* of our progressive up-to-date farmers, They are men of moderate financial circumstances and are fully Identified with the tax pavers interests. All . consequently are committed to the principle of the election of United States senators by the Jieople. .Messrs Brandon an«l Philpott have never been candidates for office liefore the people, until the present time, am! can in no sense lie regarded as office si-exi rs. With them it has been a case of the office seeking the man. On the Other band, Mr. I. A. Munkers has served the county as sheriff for one term and as representative in the legis lature during one session. His services as sheriff were all that could be asked for, and his legislative record is liefore the fieople to which he invites inspec tion. Neither of the above named can didates have legislative axes to grind nor pet institutions to ask extravagant, tinancialy aid for. Their purpose is, only, to serve the fieople honestly and economically ami to guard the fieople’s tax moneys from the extravagant in roads that have heretofore been made upon it. What more can we ask in legislators than Messrs Brandon, Philpott and Munkers are fully competent to supply? Surely they come much more nearly filling the legislative measure than their opponents, w ho head the Rtqiubll- can county t!cket. The legislative tinber offered by the Republican |<arty of Linn county, thi* year, la open to serious objection. Probably three-fourtha of the votera of Linn county are staunch supportera of Statement No. 1 M i - mi » Uptnyer and Porter of the Republican tic-et, at the command of the political i«»*« have refuaed to subscribe to the principle of the people's aelection of senator.
