J The good reads suggested are nu merous these days but the roads in this vicinity need more than sug gestions. H od . L. T. Harris, of Eugene, speaker of the house of Representa tives, annoueces his candidacy for the republican nomination for Con gressman from the First District. It was largely due to the efforts of Mr. Harris that Mr. Hermann re ceived the nomination for Con gressman at the Eugene convention, and it is said that Harris could have ••cured the nomination for him self If he had so wished. He is a Linn county boy and is very popu lar. The question of the Sunday open ing of the Lewis and Clark Fair, the discussion of which has of late oc cupied considerable time and space in the newspapers of Portland, has been settled by the United States Senate refusing an appropriation unless the fair be closed on Sundays. The discussion became so heated In the metropolis and the agitation so great that even mlnistors were found who favored Sunday opening It is Just as well that Congress has settled the question. OREGON Proper Treatment of Pneumonia. Pneumonia is too dangerous a dis ease for anyone to attempt to doctor himself, allhough he may have the proper remedies at hand. A physi cian should always be called.
