Mme. Hoshl is about 88 years of age
and of the most pleasing personal ap­

feet 10 inches in height. Her dark
hair is very abundant, her large brown
eyes are soft, yet bright, and her com­
plexion is clear and rosy. In dress,
her costume is that of the American
woman, yet as she has only recently
laid aside her native gowns, her ward­
robe of western robes is limited. She

borrowed is lauded as the friend of a
sound currency. The man who wants
the people to destroy the government
is an anarchist, but the man who
wants the government to destroy the

“Some, who are ready to use the
power of the government to limit the
supply of money, in order to prevent
injustice to the creditor, are slow to
admit the right of the government to
increase the currency when necessary
to prevent injustice to the debtor. I
denounce that cruel interpretation of
governmental power which would
grant the authority to starve, but
would withhold the authority to feed
our people—which -would permit a
contraction of our currenoy, even to
the ■ destruction of all prosperity, but
would prohibit the expansion of our
currency to keep pace with the grow­
ing needs of a growing nation!”
“The gentlemen who-are so fearful
of socialism when the poor are exempt­
ed from an income tax view with in-

which give the rich a substantial ex­

$15,000,000 is to be collected from the
incomes of the rich than they do at the
collection of $300,000,000 upon goods

the attempt is made to equalize these

With these young women to the fore
and plenty to follow after, there is ev­
ery reason to hope, for, although men
are using their brushes and pencils to
make posters; few have really attained
great distinction—one or two in Amer­
ica and a half dozen, if that many at a
close count, in England. Of course
France can claim a dozen at least, be­
cause the poster is a mere important
feature in Paris than anywhere else.—

Antonio-White Oaks stage was held

Denver, Oot. 7.—The largest loco- I

made a trial run from Denver to
Pueblo today, hauling forty-five cars.
It is calculated that this engine oan
run seventy miles an hour. Another
of the same pattern is being built.
When both ate in use, the running
time between Denver and Pueblo may
be reduced to a mile a minute.
The first patent was issued to Samuel
