A Dozen Reasons For Re-Electing
U. S. Senator Stanfield
Oregon is in great need of
1 rapid
development and must
»eek fi-deral aid, which the state
cab obtain only through such
men in Congress as Senator
Stanfield, with his commanding
position In the Senate as Chair-
of the Public Lands Committee
and high rank on the powerful
Finance Committee.
By reason of hia Important
S» nate Commltte»- positions
which a new man could not ob
tain In 10 or 12 years. Senator
Stanfield has been an outstand
ing factor in obtaining Govern
ment appropriations for Oregon
during the pasts five years
amounting to i32.fi95.978.

the McKentle river.
Senator Stanfield Is leading
** the fight In the Senate to
estatbllsh Oregon's right to use
the revenues from her natural
resources to develop the State
and thereby reduce materially
the taxes now burdening our people. His Grazing Bill, now before
the Senate for passage, is the entering wedge to restore this righ t
For the farmer Senator Stanfield was successful in urging the
enactment of the Emergency Tariff law of May 27, 1921. Through
the Norris Bill he obtained $6.696.000 for Oregon from the War
Finance Cororatlon for the relief of agricultural banks and person
ally supervised this aid for the Treasury Department.
C During the past five years Senator Stanfield has aid-d Senator
McNary in obtaining $9.631.000 for Oregon reclamation projsets.
“In the hearing on the attennted sale of the Oriental Line to the
Dollar Interests, Senator Stanfield Is assisting me in every way he
can," wired Senator McNary on May 4.
4
Z5 Senator Stanfield, as member of the Senate Finance Committee,
”
was largely inatrumental in procuring $7,386.000 for the im
provement of rivers and harbors in Oregon, nnd Is in position to as
sist materially In securing a 35 ft. channel from Portland to the sea.
The lumtier business, Oregon's chief Industry, has been relieved
• of an annoying handicap through the repeal of the C-npi'al Stock
Tax. the main credit for whose repeal ie given by the National
Lumber Manufacturers' Association to Senator Stanfield.
One of Senator Stanfield's leading achievem ents Is his success
in obtaining, and laying before the Senate, a favorable report
from his committee on Public Lands on his $5000.000 O. A C. Tax
Refund Bill, restoring the taxe>s lost to 18 Oregon counties and low»,
erlng thereby the taxes of every taxpayer in Oregon.
The Stanfield Home Loan Bill will benefit thousands of city
dwellers desirous of building and owning a home. It provides
for government-supervised loans on residence property In amounts
of $500 to $10,000 at a rate of interest esDmnted not to exceed 6 per
cent and payable in monthly installm ents over 5 to 15 years.
Senator Stanfield is a consistent supporter of the Coolidge ad
ministration and 1« standing with the president in the latter's
enforcement of the prohibition law and redaction of federal taxes..
As a staunch friend of the Direct Primary Law, Senator Stan
field has publicly stated his attitude In unmistakable language.
He says: “Conventions called without authority of law will be open
to the saime objections as the old convention system.”
1 n Because ho has proved1 him self during his entire term In the
I Z Senate to he a friend of labor, Senator Stanfield has been
officially endorsed by representative labor organizations. Including
the Central Labor Council of Portland on May 10 and Sunset Lodge
No. 130 ot the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen on May 14. Also
by the Bayonet Club, the political organization of the Disabled
Americans Veteran» of the World War, for h is steadfast support of
legislation for veterans ot all wars.
