LITHIANS TO PLAY
MEDFORD AT 2:30
With a bang up ball game
promised for Sunday between
two traditional rivals, the first
annual baseball day should be a
success, according to Bert Miller,
who has been sparkplugging the
show.
Medford, always a tough one,
when playing Ashland, will meet
the Lithians at 2:00 p.m. on Ful
ler Field. Tickets, now on sale
all over town, are going for 75c.
The Lithians with 714 points,
are standing In second place in
league play. Grants Pass and the
Cheney Studs are tied for first
with 750 points.
The Medford
club Is in sixth place, but as Mil
ler pointed out, traditionally the
Medford team plays its best ball
when playing Ashland.
Among added attractions at the
hall game Sunday will be the
presentation of the Miss Ashland
beauty contestants by Ed Sing-
master, president of the Chamber
of Commerce. Singmaster will in
troduce Miss Marjorie Newton,
who will represent the Soroptim-
ist club; Miss Eugenia Moore,
who represents the News Re
view; Miss Allene Owens, who
represents Ashland Lodge BPOE
944. Miss Jean Hartsock, who is
sponsored by Fortmiller’s; Miss
Ann Pirtle, who is Miss Busch
Motor, Miss Lucille Hulander
who represents Weitzels Depart
ment store;; and Miss Willette
Harndon, who is Miss Ashland
Cabinet Works.
The Ashland Riding Associa
tion will ride patrol around the
field during the game.
First ball of the day will he
thrown out by John Miljus, for
mer Pittsburg Pirate, who is a
former Ashland resident.
Saturday another childrens pa
rade will be held at 1:30 begin
ning at *he public library and
ending at the post office. The pa
rade is a part of the city recrea
tional program for the summer,
and will feature dolls, decorated
doll buggies, and costumes. All
entrants will walk the parade
route.
