A. Snider to Portland Tuesday
morning where he will enter de­
fense work. He and Snider were
in the city last week making ar­
rangements for their jobs. His fa­
mily will remain here for the pre­
sent, pending housing arrange­
ments in Portland or Vancouver.

Marvin Ring, son of Mr. and
Mrs. M. A. Ring of Bellview, is
spending a few days at home prior
to joining the marines. Marvin,
a graduate of 8. O. C. E.. taught
at Empire the past year, going to
Portland to work in the shipyards
during the summer. He has taken
his physical and will leave Monday
to become a "devil dog.

son, and other relatives and

officers' training school at Aber­
deen Md., and will leave for that
