The male exodus will be occasioned by the annual Elks smoker scheduled for that evening, starting at 8 o’clock. Departing from the custom of featuring boxing entertainment, the smoker this fall will bring to Ashland a troupe of 20 vaudeville lasses enroute from Portland to San Francisco—who will form the main attraction about midnight, after Elks and guests have con- sumed their fill of cracked crabs and trimmings. The evening _ will open with a turkey and ham raffle which will provide the groan for many festive boards the following Thursday and which will gather dollars for the Elks Christmas charity fund for distribution to needy families next month. At about -11 p. m., the raffle being completed, men will adjourn to the basement where hundreds of pounds of fresh cracked crabs will await their pleasure. Although the smoker will not be open to the public, Elks are this week issuing invitations to their friends and acquaintances for the annual stag party, which has be come autumn tradition in southern Oregon. Millard Grubb, chairman, and Ebe Dunn will head the raffle com mittee, Clarence Lane will be in charge of the crab feed while Wil liam M.
