HOT ASHES CAUSE OF «400
FIRE DAMAGE WEDNESDAY
Flames, starting from a bucket
of hot ashes left on a rear porch
overnight, early Wednesday caused
an estimated $400 damage at the
Bellview home of R. L. Brantley,
The loss was covered by insurance.
Climbing the porch wall to the
attic, flames were whipped by a
high wind but were brought under
control almost immediately when
the city’s new pumper arrived “in
nothing flat," according to Irving
Brantley, who was awakened by
the fire.
