Mrs Karl Baylor and family last week. • The benefit dance for Bob Purvis, who was badly injured a short time ago when a tractor he was driving turned over on Wag ner creek hill, was well attended at the city hall Saturday night. Purvis is in Portland for treat ment. • Mr and Mrs. George Thurston of Ager, Calif , spent the week end here this week. • Mrs. Frank Cameron of Apple gate called on her mother, Mrs. Louise Combest, Sunday. Elhart of Ashland was a business visitor in Hilt Thursday. • Mrs. Richard Williams and daughter Marjorie and son Russell were in Medford Saturday. • Miss Josie Mendes is working in Dunsmuir for Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nunes. • Leonard Pullen spent the week end with his family at Kerby, Ore. • Mr. and Mrs Fred Haynes and family were in Medford Saturday. • Mr. and Mrs. W. Russell Williams drove them home in his car and was accompanied on the drive by Edward Ekwall. • Mr. and Mrs. W. Gran and son spent Saturday in Ashland and Medford. • Carl Gilbert of Plummer, Ida., spent Tuesday in Hilt with his brother-in-law, E. E. Vail, of Ash land. • 'rhe Hilt baseball team met with an 8 to 3 defeat in a practice game at Medford Sunday. Morgan pitched the first five innings and Blanchard the last four. Next Sun day’s game will be the first league game of the season, with Hilt meeting McCloud here on the home diamond. • Logging now is getting under way ai. Fort Jones and the mill is scheduled to start operations again Thursday morning following a nine-day shutdown. • Mr. and Mrs. Scott Willis are the parents of an 8H-pound boy born Tuesday morning in Ashland. • Mrs Sam Dunaway and son Junior went to Sacramento Wed nesday Junior is to enter the state trap shoot there. • Harry Kennedy, Gunnar Holm berg, E. Hjertager, C. Baumgart ner and Paul Green of Hornbrook attended a lodge dinner in Yreka Tuesday evening. • Mr. and Mrs L. Laurentz and daughter Louise and Margaret Coleman were in Medford Satur day. • Mr. and Mrs. J. DeWitt are va cationing in southern California. • Ed Grow of Oroville, who is visiting here, accompanied Mrs. De Jarnett and Mrs. Coleman to Yreka Tuesday. • Mrs Frank Ward, Mrs. Fred Haynes, Mrs. J.
