Carnivals, dances, baseball games, a bathing beauty contest, crowning of the season’s queen and other activities will fill the days from June 28 to July 5 Scheduled to set up in the grounds at the upper end of the park in midweek, the Browning Amusement company will invite throngs of amusement seekers to try rides, shows and concessions during the entire holiday observ ance A dance on the open-air pa vilion at Twin Plunges is slated for Saturday evening, July 3 Hel man's Baths, the Plunges and Jackson Hot Springs pools will cater to swimmers every day of the big occasion. Heaviest local intereat Is c«*ntered on two grudge tilts between the Ashland and .Medford town baseball nine* to be played at the high school diamond on the afternoons of July 4 and 5. Each having won a game so far, rivalry between the two clubs is at a high pitch. A water carnival at 12:30 noon at the Twin Plunges and a band concert in Lithia park will round out the day for the 4th. Set as official day of observ ance, July 5 will carry the big load of the fiesta program. At 11 a m. the bathing beauty contest will attract many and the after noon's fun will start promptly at 1 o’clock when children s athletic contests for $50 in cash prizes will be held in the park and a band concert also will be staged. The day's baseball game and an other concert will finish the after noon and the second big dance at the Plunges will put pep into the evening. The Ashland municipal band, di rected by Ward Croft, will be fea tured in the concerts. Virgil Jack son's C of C Pep band at the ball games, the Hill Billies will tour the streets throughout the week end, and possibly another band may be secured to add to the mu sical background. Facilities are available for pri vate and organization concessions near the carnival stand at the ren tal price of a dollar per front foot and those desiring space should contact William M. Briggs. Ashland Youths On Way To Scout Meet Robert Farlow, troop 12, and Frank King, troop 13. Boy Scouts of America, left Ashland Sunday evening bound for Washington, D. C., and the national Boy Scout jamboree Word the following day from San Francisco indicated that the two local boys are taking in every thing of interest on the eventful itinerary.
