Bell family purchased a telephone and plans to Install it as soon as weather permits • Mrs Walter Longstreth is con fined to her home with flu. • Elmer Byrd and Dan Farmer of Dorris, Cal., were at their homes over the week-end. • The 4-H sewing club met at the school house last Tuesday. Betty Dunn and Yvonne Christ - lieb served on the program com mittee. Mrs. Edwin Dunn leads this club. • Mrs. Walter Longstreth took a group of the Junior high bas ketball members to the Medford game last Thursday. • Mrs. Anderson, who was ill with flu last week was unable to cook the hot lunches, The girls in the eighth grade did the work in her absence. • Mrs Herman Helm, who has been ill with flu, is much im- proved. • Miss Julia Quimby is ill with flue and unable to teach In the school this week. Mr Balding and Miss Eunice Hager are teaching her grades in her absence. • The home extension unit will hold its meeting next Friday at the home of Mrs Homer Moore. Maxwell Tuesday afternoon. • Ralph Hamilton spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Royal Bates and family at Medford. • Tuesday evening several rela tives of Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Burnett went to their home and gave them a surprise. It being Mrs. Burnett’s birthday, after an hour or so spent socially, an oyster supper was served. • Ladles of the Royal Neighbors met at the home of Mrs. Fred Hodapp Thursday. There were eight or 10 ladies present. A cov ered dish luncheon was served at noon. • Miss Mary Chambers was a Medford shopper Saturday after noon. • Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Maxwell of the Talent feed store moved from Ashland here last week into the house recently occupied by Mr. Maxwell's parents who have moved into Henry Burnett’s house. • A Townsend rally was held Thursday evening at the City hall. Owing to the inclement weather only about 50 were present but there was a good entertainment and pie and coffee served and an enjoyable evening spent under the direction of Ray Garland. • Miss Delta Thompson, who is employed at Ashland, visited with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Thompson and family Sunday. • Mrs. Daphna Schumaker is vis iting at the home of her son Ray and family. • Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sloper of Medford announces the birth of a daughter named Loretta Francis.
