CITY OF SCHOOLS Ashland has industries, it is a city of homes, it has climate, mineral springs, as fine a park as there is in the state, modern stores, churches and many other advantages that make it a fine city in which to live. And besides all these, it is a city of schools. Last week was graduation week. Southern Oregon Normal School, located here, graduated a class of one hundred and twenty-three students. Ashland High School graduated a class of sixty-eight, and Junior High a class of eighty. The grade schools of this city rank high in attendance and in school work. Ashland is proud of her schools. THE DREAMERS Hard boiled, practical people sometimes have a sort of contempt for those whom they call “dreamers." They think of them as visionaries, fanatics, of no con structive worth to the world. But the Good Book tells us that “without vision the people perish.” Joseph was a dreaming lad. Yet he lived to see the day when the brothers who scoffed at him as a mere dreamer were glad to bask in the sunshine of his greatness. Samuel Adams dreamed many years of an American republic before others ever thought of such a thing. He spoke of it, lived it. sacrificed for it. And the dream came true. Maybe some things which the politicians of today denounce as visionary and impractical will prove to be the kind of dreams that come true.
