E. Briggs, who has been in Trinity Center, Calif, for some time on business, returned to Ash land last Thursday. O Chet Wolters spent the week end at Uike-of-theWooda, where he has a cabin. O Miss Irwanda Bateman recently spent a week with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Archer of Powers, Ore. Mia. Archer was formerly Miss Lucille Carson of Ashland. e Mr. anil Mrs. A. A. Madden had as guests for last week. Mrs. George F. Relgei and small son, wuo returned Friday to their home in Hilt, Calif Mrs. Heigel is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mad den, and the former Helen Madden of Ashland. • Mrs. J. A. Kragh returned to her home in San Francisco last week, following a three-weeks visit with Mr. and Mrs. L. I. Moon, brother-in-law and sister of Mrs. Kragh. • Jack Merritt left for San Fran cisco the latter part of last we. k. to spend the summer visiting many friends and relatives. • Mrs. E. A. Woods returned to Ashland from Portland on Thurs day. While in Portland Mrs Woods was present for the graduation of her son, Marcus Woods, from the Northwestern Dental College. • Mrs. H. T. Mitchell, who visited for a week in Springfield, Ore., re turned to her home here last Wed nesday. • Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Easton left last Friday for Roseburg and Myr tle Point, to spend their summer vacation. • Mrs. J. D. Mars, who has spent some time visiting friends and relatives in Eugene and Newport, returned to her home here last week. • Mrs. Bertha Smith and daugh ter, Harriett Smith, have been spending some time in Portland. • Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Green and two children .Billy and Isabel, left last Saturday for San Diego to attend the fair there, and other Californian points, plannig to re main in the south for about three weeks. • Mrs. Don Smith, teacher in the Salem schools, spent several days recently in Ashland, on her way to Sar. Francisco to join her hus band. While here, she visited with Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Davies, her parents. • Mr. and Mrs. Orville Hall have as their guests for a short time, Mrs. Hall's sister, Mrs. M. Burke and son, who accompanied Mrs. Hall to her home here from Klam ath Falls. • Vernon Johnson left for Santa Barbara on Tuesday .after attend ing Normal school this year. • J. W. McCoy and daughter Frances, recently spent several days in Portland at the Rose car nival, and in Milwaukie, with Mrs Theo J. Norby, who accompanied them north. They returned to Ash land late Sunday. • Miss Evelyn Sellars and Miss Mary Adamson of Myrtle Creek, will be in Ashland for most of the summer, attending the Nor mal school. • Mr. and Mrs. J. Edward Thorn ton had as guests for the week end, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith and daughter, of Duluth. • Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Eubanks have with them for a short time, their son Archie Eubanks of Se attle. • Mrs. A. E. Eitemiller of Red ding, Calif., spent the week-end in Ashland with her daughter. Miss Virginia King, and her moth er, Mrs. A. L. Anstead of Palm avenue. • Miss Nell Perrine arrived in Ashland on Tuesday to spend the summer at her home here.
