It wai easy to believe that only after hours of preparation, of having hie face lift ed and all that eort of thing, can he face the ecreen. Apparently he'e enjoying New York night life, but it len’t helping his looke any. Meanwhile Doloree is going about a bit in Hollywood, and there's talk of her returning to the ecreen. If she’s been able to cultivate her speaking voice and learn a little more about acting, she ought to get along teautifully; she's always been one of the loveliest girls in Hollywood. —« — Now, I nsk you! Here everybody’s been raving about Merle (»heron’s exotic benuty, not caring a whoop because It was achieved by using S|>eclnl makeup pmi having the cor ners of her eyes drawn back and up a little. Being exotic wns her specialty, and she wns doing n good job of it. So along comes Samuel Goldwyn. signs her up to do "Dark Angel” and "Lorna I»oonc,’’ and announces that he's going to change her type nnd make her a regular English girl. He could have found plenty of actresses who either were regular English girls or looked as if they were. He could have found plenty of roles that demanded somebody ns exotic as Oberon. But that's Hollywood for you—do »he thing the hardest way! Then you feel as If you’d accomplished something.
