during their week-end jaunt were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Lynch at Wagner creek.
• Miss Lucille Reeder, teacher at
the H« aver creek school, spent the
week-end with her parents In Ash­
land.
• Mrs Ben Moore of Hig Apple­
gate, sustaining minor injuries to
her back a few days ago. Is spend­
ing a short time in Medford un­
dergoing treatment.
• Mr and Mrs. Albert Hackert
of Jacksonville spent the week-end
with relatives at Squaw lake Sev­
eral lower Applegate people, com­
bining business and pleasure, also
spent the week-end nt the lake.

quarantine is being partially en­
forced. have been enjoying the
privilege of trips to Squaw lake.

philosopher of Ruch, was a Med­
ford visitor recently, and observed
spring fashions enroute.
• Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Tnylor, ac­
companied by Mr. and Mrs. Doc
Stevenson of Medford and Mr and
Mrs Jack Green of Jacksonville
spent Sunday picnicking on Car-
bury. Although the trip was de­
signed primarily for fishing, that

mitted. under pressure, that sev­
eral of the catch were of decent
arm-extending length.

Mrs. Ray Wilson of this city Sun­

hall has been jaistponed, due to
th«- death Thursday of Fremont
Jordan of Thompson creek. Mr
Jordan had been thought improv­
ing from an attack of the flu, with
which he had suffered the past
two weeks.

SPORTS CONTESTS
FEATURE Oh" JUNE
JUBILEE, IS PLAN
A statewide tennis tournament
was announced this week as one
of the features of Oregon's Dia­
mond Jubilee celebration in Med­
ford, June 3 to 0. The tourney will
cover four days beginning with
the first day of the celebration,
with handsome loving cups offered
to the champions of the doubles
and singles divisions.
Quite a number of entrants have
already made themselves known,
and more are expected from all
parts of the state. A committee is
now working to complete details.
Preparations are also underway
for a trap-shooting contest, open
to contestants from the Pacific
coast at large. Numerous worth­
while prizes will be offered for this
event, attracting some of the best
shooters in the west. Plans are
nearing completion for a fly-cast­
ing tourney during the celebration,
with quite a number of entrants
expected.
A golf tournament is attracting
interest throughout the northwest,
and will offer spirited competition
for several days. Loving cups will
be awarded winning teams and
winners of different handicap
classes. A committee has been de­
voting considerable time to assure
the success of this outstanding
feature of jubilee week.
