The steamship tJmatlUa has arrived fet
San - Francisco from Puget Sound, six
hours late. The vessel encountered heavy
weather on the trip. A huge crave was
shipped over the bow,1 and carried away
30 feet of the port rail; and a quantity

Two French vessels were chartered to
load wheat at Portland yesterday. They
are the bark Alice Marie and the French
ship Bayonne. The Bayonne is now .on
her way from Diego Saurea lor Hobart,
where she will receive her orders for
Portland. The Alice Marie went out from
South Africa' to HorJart (on her maiden
trip. She received orders to proceed to
