In Chicago the group spent a day at the Hall of Science which boasts a complete mine set up with real coal miners to escort visitors. Other attractions were a complete farm, a television display, a typical 1900 stret, the first car, the first dentist chair, crude medical in struments reminiscent of the early days of medicine, aeroplanes, ships, a detailed lecture on jet-propelled planes and a demonstration of the still-experimental “cold” stoves. When the party hit Watertown, S. D. they found it without water or electricity and the buildings in I ruins as the result of a “twister” j which had hit the day before.
