Show Assured, Oct. 1-9 This year's P a cific International Livestock exposition in Portland, Oct. 1 to 9, prom ises to establish new records in all departm ents. H ighlight will be the first ap pearance in the United States since the war o f the R oyal Canadian Mounted P olice drill team , a group o f 35 men selected as the best horsem en from the entire force. All o f them are on active duty, many o f them patrolling re gions beyond the A rctic circle. In their red and blue uniform s, they will execute com plicated m aneu vers to m usic at each o f the 13 horse show perform ances. O f top interest is the $126,955 in premium s and special prizes for Whidh exhibitors will com pete. E xpositions president, T heodore B. W ilcox, announces that this to tal prem ium list is made possible by increased interest, despite heavy V anport flood repairs which cost $62,500. Outstanding livestock authorities nave been com m issioned, to judge the avalanche o f entries com ing from eight W estern states and Canada. Blue bloods am ong cattle, sheep, swine and goats will be on display and poultry, rabbits and pigeons will vie for honors.
