In that rematch, there poses a large ques tion. That question is whether or not Hawkins, in the interval, will learn that he has such a thing as a right rand. In the last fight, it seemed safe to suppose that he had hurt his right mitt, for seldom too seldom he passed up openings in favor of a sharp shooting left. Given a chance, that right hand might well spell a whale of a difference. 4 4 * H E A V E R SPRUCE UP It’s those whirlwind. Garrison finishes that really spice the en joyment of a sports fan. KVFN r Ring fane can't help but be still talking about the super-col ossal heavyweight tangle at the last National Boxing club show, in Portland, between Big Bill Peterson and Roy Hawkins. For excitement, it tops any heavy weight fight of recent note. Peterson, Pacific Coast crown holder .thought he had the affair cinched In a definite knockout that encountered tlje “long count" treatment when the referee and the knockout timer did their own version of the 1 to 10 business. The much told tale is that Haw kins came back and thought he had ended the bloody affair by slamming Peterson out, through the ropes, onto his head. In the shouting and whooping, nobody seemed to have heard the bell that gave Peterson his salvation. Ralph Gruman, probably the most unpopular referee in local circles (squared circles, of course* wound up the mayhem in the early part of the ninth, when Haw kins was reeling drunkenly ar ound before the pumping fistic attack of Petersen. But for his stepping in, Gruman nearly be came the victim of Hawkin's fury because the latter hadn’t given up his hopes of weathering the storm, somehow, and going the remaining 6 plus rounds schedul ed for the evening 4 Here Are a Few of the Sewing Services Offered by FLORENCES SEWING CENTER Buckles Covered Belts Made Eyelets Instolled Forty five contestants have al ready signed in.
