Because of the rapid growth of population along the road, which has been spurred by mush rooming housing developments, the request directs attention of the bus companies to the fact that at present no bus leaves Portland for this area after 5:45 p. m . and working people from the big city are forced to doubt ful, makeshift means to make it home after such hour. Citing the fact that a bus franchise carries with it some responsibility of service to the communities through which it passes, the petitioners ask at least a round-trip schedule from PorUand about 9 p. m. and 11:30 p m. To make this possible, the Walker Road residents suggest routing of bus schedules from Hillsboro, Reedville or points in that direction, to pass along at least part of Walker Road and so rescue these patrons from their patterns of isolation. George Helser, at the Green Meadows Grocery, invites all residents along Walker Road to come into the combination store and bus depot if they wish to include their name on the peti tion being signed EF FICI EN T H E A V IK T O N Phones TR 8039 Beaverton ‘ 3799 - COURTEOUS SANITARY SERVICE Canyon Rd. at E llis D O U G H TY'S Appliances 1947 21.
