Julv 21, 1944 Plans Approved For Rooms The school district board of school district 48, has been notified by the Federal Government that their pre liminary Application for assistance in constructing additional class rooms to the Beaverton grade school build ing has been approved. The public works administration has requested that a formal applica tion be forwarded as soon as possible. This application to request the fol lowing construction program: Five additional class rooms. The cafeteria as planned in the original drawings to be constructed, but di vides into two class rooms to take the place of the two proposed rooms on the south end of the new wing. The two south rooms on the original drawings to be eliminated. I f the federal government accepts the formal application 50 % of the construction cost will be provided from federal funds under the Lan ham act. The architects have estim ated ’ the total cost ot the rooms and equipment at $60,000. $30,000 to be provided by the local district. At the end of last year seventeen teachers were employed in the grade school with only eleven standard class rooms. Additional space was provided by using the shower rooms, and dividing two other rooms into sub-standard temporary rooms. The library and cafeteria were also elim inated to take care of the Increased enrollment.
