Rapid accumulation of facts con cerning rural electrification in Ore gon is in progress so that the state will be prepared to receive full bene fit from the administration program in this field, according to reports made at the annual meeting of the Oregon Committee on Electricity in Agricul- ture. Extensive detailed surveys of 18 counties have already been made as an SERA project under the works di vision and supervised by F. E. Price, agricultural engineer. In addition to these comprehensive surveys made by the rural divisions of the private power companies. All facts are being assembled and coordinated by the office of the pub lic service commissioner, as directed recently by Governor Charles H. Mar tin. Oregon faces a somewhat different problem from that of most states, it was brought out at the meeting, as in many western Oregon counties from 50 to 75 per cent of the farms already have access to power lines.
