John H. Stehn, director of the university band, is in charge of the event. In all, more than 700 students will be guests of the university for the contest and plans are being made for their entertainment both by students and by townspeople. The concerts will all be held in McArthur Court, which has a seating capacity for sev eral thousand people. Bands will compete in three classes Class A will include schools over 600. Class. B those from 400 to 600, and Class C under 400. All champions from last year, Jefferson in Class A Silverton in Class B, and Hill Military Academy in Class C will be present to defend their titles. Each band will be required to play one selective number and one re quired number. They are first al lowed a "warm-up” march which will not be judged. Tills "warm-up" how ever, will be in the nature of a con test, since severe I band masters will play their own compositions in a special composition contest. Judges will be Glenn H. Woods, su pervisor of music, Oakland, Califor nia public schools; Frank Mancinl, director of bands, Modesto Junior College, and L. A. McArthur, super visor of music. Willows, Calif. The contest for the past nine years has been held on the campus of the Oregon State college at Corvallis Henceforth It will be alternated be tween the campuses, and next year will be held at Corvallis. Mott, Oregon, Senator Lynn Frazier, North Dakota, prom ised to substitute the Frazier Mort- gnre Refinancing bill in place of the proposed administration measure, it was learned this week.
