There are, undoubtedly, in this town some citizens suffering from hardships and deprivations in the midst of others who are enjoying life to its fullest extent. Sur ely the fortunate one should remember the others less fortunate and give expression to their gratitude by con crete acts of thoughtful kindness and, where necessary, gentle generosity. Here is his schedule: Half hour for inspec tion of buildings and instructions to janitors; three hours for office work; three hours for supervision of classrooms; one hour's private con ference with teachers; one hour’s conference with parents and pupils; one hour with civic and educational committees; one hour public educa-" tion meetings and night school; three and one-half hours devoted to keeping on the good side of his school board; four hours for meals, rest and recreation. One of the hazards of travel on a busy highway comes from automobiles going to the left side of the road either when caused by a desire to turn in at some farm or road or in trying to pass another vehicle moving in the same direction. Once or twice recently we have noticed where acci dents occurred when mail carriers had temporarily stop ped their cars on the left of the road to deposit mail in a rural mail box situated on that side. In an effort to avoid this danger the Postoff ice Department ruled that rural mail boxes should be placed on the carrier’s right hand side to avoid this danger in pulling over to the left There would seem to he very little objection to this at first glance but it was not long before protests began to come to the Post Office Department. Parents, espec ially mothers, registered their objection to a plan which involve sending the children across the traveled highway every time they went for the mail. As far as we are concerned, we think the children are entitled to protec tion. Grown up men are better able to protect them selves than are children. It is undistinguishable in taste from fresh cream, and re tails at about the same figure that bottled cream does. This is good news for house wives. and the canned cream has this additional advantage in the matter of economy that, due to the fact that there Is a finer sub division of the portions of fat, It will go further In coffee than a like amount of regular cream. The sterilized cream disperses more finely and evenly, and consequent ly has more "whiting” power. This new product now makes it possible for the first time to have real cream on the tables of ships on long voyages, In the tropics and in all places where It was never before possible. To whip it, chill the cream for several hours —twenty-four or more for best re sults—and chill the utensils with which you whip it as well. Where simply a rich, heavy cream Is de sired, it can be used Just as it comes from the can and It needs no chilling. To show how far this cream has already traveled in tropical coun tries Martin Johnson sent back a letter from South Africa praising Its convenience and fresh flavor while on “ safari."* Headers of this newspaper are invited to send in. for , Ca! 10n’ a*ly l\cm which they think will prove inter- : o our readers.
