A SON Manning AIR. BlZHESS’AAJd, MH.ÓBE Oregon Slate College, Corvallis, November 6—The world crop of dried prunes is expected to be only two-thirds as large as last year, ac cording to a market report just re leased by L. R. Breithaupt, college extension economist. Compared to the average from 1926 to 1930, the world output will probably be 14 per cent smaller this year. The Pacific coast crop was indicated to be about 9 per cent below average and the combined output of France and Y u goslavia only about one-third of the average. Murket conditions are un settled especially abroad. About one- half of the Pacific coast dried prune crop is marketed in foreign coun tries. the report says. Growers are selling red clover seed less freely than last year, the summary of the small seed murket situation shows. "Prices being paid ( to growers about September 22 were | generally about $10.20 less than a. year previous. Tne highest average prices were for districts in Wiscon sin and the lowest in Oregon and Idaho. A substantial reduction in the ex- pected crop of peppermint oil was indicated in the October report. The output this year for the five principal peppermint producing sta tes Indiana, Michigan, Oregon, Wash ngton and Ohio according to the government estimate, will be slightly over 600,000 pounds. This is less j than two-thirds of the output in 1930 and slightly more than three-fifths j of the 1929 crop. No material change In the estim ated production of apples was m ade1 on October 1 except some reduction , in the commerlal output. The total j apple crop is expected to be 26 per cent greater than last year and 28 per cent over average. The commer cial part of the r rop Is figured 12 per cent more than last year and , 16 per cent over average.
