The new decision of the su-i
preme court will have the effect
of rehabilitating the saloon in
municipalities voted dry under
the local option law, provided
the members of the council will
grant a liquor license. The
charter of the municipality must,
of course, provide that the coun
cil shall have authority to grant
such license. This will bring
the liquor issue down to munici
pal fights, and if a town elects a
wet council that particular town
can have saloons, even though
the Btate has been voted dry by J
the local option law. It seems !
that there is prospect of a con- j
flict of laws in Oregon. This is
due to a too frequent an 1 reck
less upc? of the initiative and re
ferendum. What the final re
sult will be romain.3 to be seen.

FORTUNHS OF THE WORLD ARE FOUNDED
ON OIL
Joe Chanslor, now several times a millionaire, was not so long ago, a clerk in Los Angeles. He
borrowed some money for the purpose of operating in California oil; the result was that it made
him one of the richest men in the state. John A. Hunting, formerly a brakeman for the Southern
Pacific, through the investment of $170.00 in California oil land became a millionaire. We could tell
you of innumerable others. Why were Hunting, Chanslor, and many others, who made their money
through investments in oil, successful? Uecausc they were shrewd, levelheaded, observing men
possessing unbounded confidence in the great future of the California oil field.? and the oil industry,
Tho demand for oil is increasing daily. The consumption far exceeds the output. Several oil com
panies paid substantial dividends when oil was selling at fifteen cents a barrel. Oil is now selling at
SIXTY CENTS PER HAUKEL at the well. The total dividends for the year ll'OS, from all the oil
companies doing business in California, not including the Standard, will probably reach the $0,000,000
mark, and reach the $10,000,000 for the year 1 '.)('.). Therefore the natural conclusion to arrive at, is,
INVEST IN OIL SECURITIES INVEST AT ONCE. We are offering for trie a limited number of
shares on what we consider to be one of the best Companies operating in Kern Co., in fact, in Cal
ifornia. We refer to the stock of the KERN ASSOCIATED OIL COMPANY. The stock of the
KEIIN ASSOCIATED OIL COMPANY is the best oil proposition ever oiTered the investment public.
The company owns free of incumbrance FORTY ACRES IN THE VERY HEART OF THE KERN
RIVER OIL DISTRICT, and situated on the Southern Pacific Railroad. It -idjoir.s the San Joatjuim
Oil & Development Co's property which was iecv ntly merged with the A--v.:!atcd Oil Co., WHOSE
STOCK IS NOW SELL1NV, AT $31.73 PER SHARE. It also adjoins the ju.- tly famous .Discovery
well where oil was first discovered in the Kern River oil district. THE KERN ASSOCIATED OIL
COMPANY has two well 3 on its property. Well No. 1 IS IN OIL and gius about sixty -live barrels
ef oil per day. With a greater depth and a mere -prove 1 punp the production will be greatly in
creased. The company desires to . ink' four ni-io v. : '! , nn to in. tall modern eomprer.-ed air pumps.
We believe that will No. 2, will, with greater depth, proddc- a larger and incxhvu.-raVo oil supply
as are the other wills on adjoining properties. Wo are offering a limitt J number of .-hares in this
Company at twenty tvnM per .-hare. Po you reali o wlr.it that means? It means that in purcha-T.g
this .vtcck vou become ir.torc-ted in a company that can produce the oil. It is not a ca -e of "Thoy
may," "They i-hould." but "THEY ARE."
Let us again i.r.press upon j ou th.e e lr. i: ip uto :t f.;el. The pi. p-rty is a i ro.lucer, is en
tirily surrouialed by reliable producing ptv.n rtiis. that there is ru:!:ciir.t acreage (ferty acres) to
justify the drilling of feity more wtiis all of which we.:! 1 he in the very c:re of tho richest oil pro
ducing districts in the world. Remember that Kern Co. produces as much oil as anv ( ther three oil
producing counties in California. Shipping faciiitiis ceuhl not be better for the property adjoins
the Southirn Pacific track?. Tho company has valuable a- .U inimn-.-ovcmcr.ts: Two wells, derrick,
tanks, tool and bunk houses, etc., etc.
Refer; accepting tie' fi-rd agency of the Kern Associated Oil Company we thoroughly i.cti
