I TEKSONAL AND LOCAL Will Dauer and wife were Portland bound passengers . last week. Mrs. V. R. Schuerer is very ill, the report being that she has been unconscious since Faiday. Ceorge Scholl and wife spent Sunday with Mrs. Scholl's mo ther, Mrs. Leonard Will. Mrs. Melinda Barret, who has suffered so long with her limb, had it amputated Monday by Dr. Weaver of Hubbard end Smith of Portland. She was resting well the last heard from. Miss Orl tta and John Kraus left for Salem Saturday where -fiey will stay this winter. Mrs- Jensen of Portland, vis ited, her sister Mrs. Juiius Zim- merman, from Saturday to Mon day. Ed. II. Will returned to Port land Sunday. ' Miss Hattio Schwader is at Portland. f The new books are in at the library at the Club room. Jack Sadler has purchased from Otis Smith some lots in the Snyder addition and will build a bungalow, probably in the early snrintr. With the new houses under construction and the ones Ai McGogonal & Sadler contemplate buildincr, ought to make that one of the prettiest resident districts. Kenneth Grim will teach at the yhite school beginning Mon day. ' Mad Pleasant Time Mrs Flora Beck invited a large Dtutv of friends to surprise Mrs. John Giesy. Thursday afternoon. Mr. Gif-sv was visiting the members of her family here. Mrs. Robert Hendricks and Mrs. David Snyder, guests of Mrs. Hendricks, end Mis? Emily Stai ger, all of Salem, were invited to come and help celebrate the oc casion. The children and grand children of Aurora and a large number of friends were present. Emanuel Keil rendered some of his popular zither solos and the ladies sang their beautiful Ger man song?. Some pictures were taken of Mrs. Giesy and Mrs. Harlen, they being the eldest ladies present. When they came to the turn from the main road the carriage was up set, throwing them all out. Mrs. Julius Zimmerman became tan gled in the top and was dragged for some distance, bruising her considerably, Mr. Chris Zimmer man's ear was badly scraped. Anton Will saw the runaway and following, picked up the baby, uihurt but scared, and drove it and Mrs. Zimmerman to their destination. All "are recovering from their shaking up. Will Kendall has purchased an interest in Frank Allen's meat market and the business here after will be conducted under the partnership arrancement. Andrew Kocher had the mis fortune to lose one of his fine driving horses lost week. The animal had placed his head be tween the fence and the gate and suddenly jerked backward, thrusting a sharp piece of wood in its neck. The injury was so severe that it had to be shot. The Norwegian church is near- ing completion. C. F. Brunsen of Galseville, Wis., has located in the city and will make his horn here perma nently. Dr. J. A. Irvine, who waa ac ciCentlyshot and killed at his home near Tollman. Oregon.
