Mr. Oglesby it a good writer and we are sure oui readers will appreciate his arti cles from that country. We had the pleasure last wecl of attending the Twcnry-Second Annual meeting of Waahinr.tor. State Press Association, nt Van couver, Washington. A more (ively and generous hearted set of men and women it ,has r.ever been our pleasure, to meet. The pewspapcr men of Washington are full of vim, enterprise and know hovy to combine business and pleasure in a way to get the most enjoyment out of their pro fession. They come from towns that arc alive and growing and reaching out after more people and more business. Their busi ness men appreciate the value of newspapers in advertising to the world the advantages to be gain ed by pcttlers and homeseekers, and as a result many of the mer chants are growing rich through increased business. Their next meeting will be held in Seattle next vear, during the A. Y. P. Exposition, i Tho freshman clas3 entering the University of Oregon this fall will bo by far the largest in its history, Every indication points to a freshman registration of 250, and a total enrollment of nearly GOO students, not including the departments of law and Medi cine. Last year one-fourth of all the high school graduates of Ore gon entered the University of Orcgon.nnd there is ovcry reason to believe that an even greater percentage will enter this fall, though the number of graduate; is nearly a half larger than last year. Another source that will help swell the numbcnnatcrlally is tho large number of East in people comirg into tho State. The Kegh'trar's otfice miivcsl meeting to order promptly'at 9:30 a. m. so that there may be a morning, an afternoon and rn evening tension? Tho railroads have made a rate of a fare and a third for the round' trip for this occasion. Delegations represent ing every grange, the commercial bodies, and'the different counties to be appointed by the county judges, are already reporting that they will be present. Every ed itor in the state is a delegate at large, as is the mayor of every town, and every county commis sioner. A program is being pre pared, but every effort will be made to get rid of long winded speeches and get down to actual work that will produce results.
