Domoorat. OREGON'S RICH QUICK SILVER DEPOSITS. Deposits of quicksilver of groator richness than those that havo made California famous throughout the entire world exist in Crook county, Oregon, less than 10 miles from Priiiovillo. This information was brought to Portland today by E. V. Barnes, who has just returned from inspecting that section. While tho celebrated California cinnabar bolt yields only 0.1!) per cent, as high as (i and ten per cent mercury is found in the soil whero tho Oregon deposits exist. "I weut over to oxamino tho do posit at tho request of ono of tho owners and 1 was greatly surprised at what I saw." said .Mr. Marcus to day. "Tho grade is exceedingly high and carries from from 0 to 10 per cent of quicksilver. Tho ledges are something wonderful in size, and from work done show already thousands of tons blocked out. Tho property is situated forty miles east of Priiiovillo, on Lookout mountain, and is owned by Tillotson & Crane, the former of Portland and tho latter living at Priiiovillo. The owners have had a forco of men at work for the hint year and have two tunnels driven nearly all in ore. "One of those tunnels is 2 HO feet in letigth, the other 10 feet. The values exist in both bromides and cholrides of mercury. A proporty carrying over i per cent mercury is more valuable than a gold mine, as it is moro easily treated, and tho cost is less, ll is worth sixty cents per pound, mi 'dug ore carrying 1 per cent or twenty pounds to the ton equal to Bl'2 per ton. "Tho greatest miuo in the west is in San Luis Obispo county, Califor nia, and whilo tho ore carries only values of 0.1 n of 1 per cent quick silver, yet last year tho owners made a profit or 8100.000. "Tho ono great feat tiro of (his rock is its cheap milling and treating. Tho cost of both would be not to ex ceed S2 per (on. Tho formation is bsaltio, showing sedimentary origin. "No little excitement is being caused by tho rich discovery, as tho ore now blocked shows a value in quicksilver of from 672 to 8 MO per ton. It is not necessary to ship tho mine product, as a small plant capable of treating (on tons per day can bo orected and run at a very small cost." Mr. Humes brought with him a numbor of piecos of tho rock and has them on exhibition. -To login in. HERE TO ADJUST PSYCHE MATTERS Judge John P.
