MANAGER MUELLER
AT THE STANDARD.
F. K. O'Kourko John Doati and
V. It. MohiI who liuvo charge of thn
MubMoriition listH for the liurnt Itiver
road ar mooting with every encour
agement in the city. The Hiilmcrlption
Iiiih now reached 5r0 and a great
many of the busineHH men havo not
yet been hooii. It will probably go to
IH0O when the canvatM is complotel.
Many of thie who Hiilwcrllioil hare
Mignillod a willinguoHri to increiiHe
the amount, if morn is needed.
It Im Mtuted that the itunit Hirer
peojilo will probably IhmnnolvctH
contribute about $500 eilhor in work
or money. A good many of Uioho
people who are uiixIouh for the road
but who do not feel able to give cash
have oxprorisod thottixolvoM hh willing
to Hharu their pro rata In work.
l!(Hldon the liurnt Itiver people and
the oltleiiH or Humpter, it Ih Mated
that there Ih a number of otherH in
the vicinity of the city who will be
directly Immifllcil, who have not yet
been hooii but who will doubtless aid
in the enterprise. At this time there
does not appear to be any doubt
about the construction of the road,
and Its promoters state there is
already enough money in sight to
proceed with the work. It is
estimated that to complete the roail
will cost about 1, MX) anil this
amount Is now practically assured.
It Ih not the purpose to be con
tented with any slip shod sort of
highway, but to go in with the
intention of making it one of the best
in the county. It is a plain business
proposition which the cltiens of
Humpter regard as such, liurnt Itiver
will make a valuable feeder to the
city, and (he building ot (he road Is
a ipiestlou where mutual' iteresis are
involved.
