Martin Iluckley, manager of tho
Travolta mine, one of United States
Senator W. A. Clark'n properties,
ban accomplished a feat in mining
that will ntaiid an a record In liutto
for some time to come. In twotity
eight days he drove a drift .'110 feet.
Tho bent previous record to this was
UfiO feet, made in thirty shifts by
James Skyrme, now a foromau at tho
Moonlight initio. In tho Summit Val
ley mining district. Tho work ac
complished by Iluckley was on an
average of eleven and flvo-sovouth
foot per day. Tho ground was so
hard that it was necessary to timlwr
but tlfty feet of tho 1110 feet of tho
drift. The drift was run at a depth
of 400 feet from tho main shaft and
tho only air used In the work was
from the drill compressors.
