after each discharge, the recoil causes the

Final Payment on the Iron Dyke.
Yesterday T. B. A. Price, receiver of
the North West Railway and Northwest
Mining company, owners of the Iron
Dyke, Sampson and Copper King mines
on Snake river, near Ballard's Landing,
through John I.. Rand, his attonery, at
the l-'lrst National Bank, Baker City,
made the final payment of 94000 on the
Sampson and Copper King mines, to
Wm. Hunsaker. This gives complete
title to the company of all its rich mining
properties, which, It Is understood, stand
them in about 1 $0,000. It Is relieved,
by those In a position to know, that the
receiver for the company will push devel

Helmer & Hlnes, owners of the Prairie
Diggings mine, five miles east of Canyon
City, will shortly Install a new 6-foot
Johnson concentrator at their 5-stamp
mill, and will probably add a roasting
furnace. Exhaustive tests of Prarle Dig
gings ore have determined Its suscepti
bility to the well-known and widely em
ployed process of roasting, crushing and
concentrating, by which means it is esti
mated fully 92 per cent of the total values
are saved. Concentration is effected at
the rate of 20 tons into one, and the pro
duct is worth variously from 9200 to
2,ooo per ton. The ore mills tS to f to
a ton in free gold. Grant County News.
