WOMEN TO FILE INCOME RETURNS All Whose Incomes Are With in the Law Subject to Same Rule as Men Women who had income during 1919 are reminded by Collector of Internal Revenue Hilton A. Miller that they are subject to all of the pro visions of th federal Incom Tax. Many thousands of women file re turn and pay taxes regularly, and there are new namea added to this list each year. The high wagea and aalariea received by women last vear will perhapa double the number of those who are required to flier return. A public school-teacher, or other city, town, county and Stat employe. Is not taxed on her salary or wagea, but must Ale a return if her taxable income from other sources was eull dent to come within the law's de mands. An unmarried woman, widow, or married woman who is living apart from her husband, must file an In come Tax return if her net income foi 1919 waa $1000 or more. She ia entitled to an exemption of $1000. If ah ia the head of a family, aa defined in the Income Tax Regula tion, she may claim $1000 addition al exemption. Also, shs may claim further exemption of $200 for each person for whom she ia the chief sup port. If the dependent ia under 18 or ia mentally or physically defective. '. A married woman who has an in come from separate source thrn her husband is entitled to fllo a separate return with respect to that income. Ordinarily a husband and wife file one Joint return, including the income I of both; but if hajhusband does not include his wife's income, the wife ia j required to Ale her own return.
