On the Moss King farm, in that HIGH WOOLENS FASHIONABLE Most Expensive Good De manded by British Trade for Winter LONDON, By A. P. Dame Fash ion has set her stamp of approval on woolens for this winter, for no oth-j er reason apparently than the very j high cost of such materials. The most woolly of jumpers, Jack ets, hats, stockings, scarves, gloves' and nearly every other article of woman's and men's apparel -which may be mads of wool, are in great demand at Increaaeed prices. Where actual wool la used, it must be heavy looking of the extremely fussy var iety. Where It is not used other mat erials must be made to appear as wooly as possible. Except by those with whom costs are necessarily a consideration,, the COLLEGE NEWS REPRINTED FROM THE ALBANY COLLEGE BULLETIN ' FIFTY PERCENT INTEREST This is indeed a large rate of interest to secure for one's money, but the College can tell its friends how it may be done. The new Board of Education at New York has agreed to pay the College one dollar for every two given it for its current expenses for the next three years. - The Board wishes the College to secure not less than $6,000 on this plan, and also wishes to limit its part of the gift to $5,000. That is to say, if our friends will rise now and give the College $10,000 a year for three years, the Board will add thereto $5,000 a year (or three years, thus assuring the College a yearly income from this one source of fifteen thousand dollars. We 011108117 ask our friends to come to our rescue in this juncture, and aeatd as their checks and pledges for amounts large or small, so that we may aay to the Board, "We have done our part, and now ask you for your promised sum." Hake all checks out to Albany College, and send them right in. ' . REV. GEORGE H. YOUNG. D. D. ' It has not been announced publicly before thaf the College conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity upon its worthy Professor of Bible, Rev. George H. Young. All who know Dr. Young feel that this honor ia well-earned, and that the College ia honoring itself quite as much as Dr. Yoong. Dr. Young is the author of several books, a scholar of the first rank, and a teacher of rare ability. This is the first D. D. degree the Col lege ever conferred, in its fifty-three years of life. The Freshman class numbers more this year than the total 'student body last year, and also outnumbers the sum of the other three classes this J ear. Then are just 105 students enrolled in all courses now. This is en couraging, and pemts to larger numbers and more life and activity in the future years. The war nearly overcame the College, but it is now reviving fast, and promises to become larger than ever before.' Its friends may take covnqre, and know that the College has passed its lowest tide, and from now en will make fast strides toward reaching their ideals in numbers and life. OUR NEW GYMNASIUM The College is glad to announce to its friends that it has secured the exclusive use of the building, formerly known as The City Y. M. C. A and has converted it into a men's club. It is conducted much the same as m Fraternity house. Nine young men in the College are living in the build ing ana operating u. . Connected with the building is a large well-appointed gymnasium with shower baths. It is the Dlan of the Colleee to arrant- for the o-irlx to hv the advantage of the gymnasium and baths twice a week, and plans have been set on foot to organize all the students in physical training.
