r ALBANY DAILY DEMOCRAT. SATURDAY, JUNE 1. 1918. Daily Democrat WM. H. HORNIBROOK, puldislier Entered at the postoffice at Albany, Oregon, ai second clau matter. Daily published every evening except Sunday. Semiweekly published Tues days and Fridays. ESTABLISHED IN 1866 XHXHXH.fi HAMILTONS' SATURDAY. JUNK 1. 1918. DRAFTED FOR WAR WORK The man of draft aire who for anv reason happens to be exempted from military service is not therefore ex empted from responsibility. If he cannot fight for victory he must work for victory. That is the meaning of Provost Marshal General Crowder'a order re quiring men of draft age to give up nonessential occupations and engage in war work. The order is expected to apply to about three-quarters of a million men, and to have a revolution ary effect in the redistribution of la bor. It is impossible to lay down a hard and fast rule as to precisely what con stitutes "war work. But certain broad facts about the matter are known to everybody. Shipbuilding, for exam ple, is war work. Employment in a munition factory or airplane factory or any factory engaged in making es sential army supplies is war work. Farming is war work. The order will have an immediate and wholesome ef fect in providing recruits for these in dustries. Where there is room for doubt the question will be decided bv local draft boards. As little injustice aa possible will be done. The most obvious effect will be the withdrawal of men from occupation ' involving personal service. There will be no more male servants of military age, no more butlers or valets or foot men, no more waiters or ushers, no more "flunkeys" of any kind, no more bartenders, no more salesmen or clerks doing work that older or young er men, or women or girls, are cap able of doing. And of course the ranks of professional gamblers and other social parasites will be depleted. e ie reaiiy geiung oown to a war SAGE TEA KEEPS SHSHXHX DRESS YOUR BABY In Iha PinlaM . Let us live well, eat well, digest well, work well, sleep well, and look well, what a glorious condition to attain, and yet, how very easy It Is If one will only adopt the morning Inside bath. Folks who are accustomed to feel dull and heavy when they arise, split ting headache, stuffy from a cord, foul tongue, nasty breath, acid stomach, can, instead, feel as fresh as a daisy by opening the sluices of the system each morning and flushing out tho whole of the Internal poisonous stag Bant matter. Everyone, whether ailing, sick or weu, should, each morning, before breakfast, drink a glass of real hot water with a teaspoonful of limestone phosphate in it to wash from the stomach, liver and bowels the previous day's indigestible waste, sour bile and poisonous toxins; thus cleansing, sweetening and purifying the entire alimentary canal before putting more food into the stomach. The action of hot water and limestone phosphate on an empty stomach la wonderfully in vigorating. It cleans out all the sour fermentations, gases, waste and acidity and gives one a splendid appetite for breakfast While you are enjoying your breakfast the water and phosphate Is quietly extracting a large volume of water from the blood and getting ready for a thorough flushing of all the inside organs, The millions of people who are bothered with constipation, bilious spells, stomach trouble; others who have sallow skins, blood disorders and sickly complexions are urged to get a quarter pound of limestone phosphate from the drug store. This will cost very little, but Is sufficient to make anyone a pronounced crack on the subject of Inside-bathing before break, fast THE UNIVERSAL CAR While there's no telling what war conditions may face the country before the war U over, one thing is certain and that is that Ford ears will grow more and more into being actual necessities, both in city and country. Prospective buyers will do well to place orders NOW, when a reasonably quick deliv ery is possible. Don't put it off until late spring for the demand is continuous from all parts of the country; Ford cars are Wanted in the North, South. East and West, every day of the year. Let us have your order today and well hustle our best that you may not be kept, waiting. $524.08 f. e, b. Al bany, Oregon. W.
