HELPING THE GERMANS There ia a way in which sincere friends of Germany in this country can help the fatherland without in any way interfering with their duty to America, la tact, it prolwoly rep resents Uie best service they cau ren der either country. The way is in dicated in a letter written by Dr. Christ SJilcr, a leader in the new German- American organization. "Friends of German Democracy." "A democratic Germany there must be," he says, "if we are to talk peace an! if we are to have a lasting; peace. But guns and bulle:a alon; will never produce the spirit of free dom in Germany. "Germany must be reeducated, and has to relcarn the very elements of a sound morality. Recall the 93 pro fessors and what the;' had to ot'fcr us. .. "Any An:iican nh a part il- of German b14. if l-e had cut a Ger man grcat-grandfaher or great-grandmother who had the good fortune to knpw what a tree country means, should consider it a privilege to join thi' society and aid in carrying out kg noble aim to make Germans free citizens instead of obedient sub jects." The "Friends of German Democ racy," it should" be noted, have the approval of the United States gov ernment There is no question of their legal, patriotic and moral sta tus. They represent the finest type of German-AmericJn citizenship. And their activities are admirably cak t lated to free "hympenim" from its reproach. A woman wrote recenMy applying' "for membership m-the new organization, "This is a splendid chance for us German-Arrericans to retnove the stigma from our brows." CQMMENDS CANDIDACY OF ALBANY MAN The following is reprinted from the Suherlin Sun: "I am for Woodrow Wilson, a thorough organization and a united democracy.". The preceding excel lent slogan will appear after the name of Will H. Hornibrook of Al bany, enadidale for Democratic na tional cPLUtiiiiceman, on the primary ballot. .Air. vlornibrook announces that he, will stand squarely on that platform, accepting support from all eleirents in the party but .making po litical compacts with nor.e. He will go before the rank and iilj of tV. democracy ca his own merits and with the definite program of btinx rational , committeeman in fact as well as in name. Mr. Hornibrook un questionably is the right man for the position. FEW FOLKS HAVE Druggist Says Ladies are Using Recipe of Sage Tea and Sulphur.
