FRANK STEUACHER fCnr tinned from Pnv 1). outpost and advance tm.ird a in real military work The man in uniform is denied the right to buy Imozr and the saloons selling to any soldier are subject to heavy fines and penalties. As a con sequence we h?e .juitcan orderly ami sober bunch of men It really is "a good thing as no longer can be seen men of the army or navy recline down the street to the disirracc ot the soberly inclined men of the ser vice. The public does not discrimi nate and classes all men in uniform alike. So yon see we are all classed as a drunken lot on account of the ill-advised acts of men who cannot control their appetites. The Albany men often Bet togeth er and talk of things at home. We would enjoy coming hack for a few days before going into active ser vice. It may be possible. We are ordered up for another physical ex amination and possibly the doctors will find physical defects not discov ered when we took one other test. that may disqualify for service. It would be a sad blow to anyone here to find that on account of a bad eye. defective hearing or flat foot, or some other reason, they were denied the right to continue in a service we have all looked forward to and held as a life ambition, especially at a time when the nation calls and so urgent ly needs men. for we all want to do our part. In the final analysis of things a man is only a small factor and it is not so necessary that any of ns live when by makimr the sac- ifice we can save for mankind and the world the prized principles of Liberty and Freedom.
